Parent Support
Practical guidance and support to help parents strengthen communication, navigate challenging behaviours and build healthier relationships with their children.
Supporting the parent while strengthening the child
Parent support is not simply about teaching parents how to discipline children. It provides parents and caregivers with education, strategies and emotional support as they navigate child and adolescent development.
Parents may seek help with communication, boundaries, behaviour, school concerns, technology and social media, adolescent independence, emotional difficulties, co-parenting, grief, family transitions or understanding changes in their child's behaviour.
When should parents seek support?
You do not have to wait until the family reaches crisis point. Parent support can be valuable when you frequently feel overwhelmed, you and your child communicate mainly through arguments, discipline strategies no longer seem effective, your teenager is withdrawing, school or behavioural concerns are escalating, or you simply want greater confidence in your parenting.
A trained social worker can help people make lifestyle changes. They can also help identify underlying causes of symptoms and provide strategies for changing unwanted thoughts and behaviors. Counselling can equip people with the skills to manage symptoms, reduce stress, and improve their quality of life.
